What is the BTEC Award in Networking and Architechture?

Networks and Networking are a key part of any organisation’s IT systems and are critical to many organisations’ ability to do business. An infrastructure technician is expected to have a good theoretical understanding of network and architecture and be able to install, configure and troubleshoot internal networks and access to the internet.

This qualification covers basic computer hardware and software architecture, network addressing (including relevant numerical skills with binary numbers), network media (cabled and wireless) and the hardware required for connections, security and the maintenance procedures used to keep the network running.

What does the course consist of?

This is a single unit qualification and as such can be studied as a stand alone unit or in conjunction with others as part of the Infrastructure Technician Standard.

Learning materials are provided in the form of streaming videos, e-books and quizzes, all available 24/7 on our Moodle site.

There is an exam at the end, which is multiple choice and must be taken onscreen. We can make arrangements to do this with you wherever you are in the world.

What are the entry requirements?

No prior knowledge, understanding, skills or qualifications are required for learners to register for this qualification.

Non-native English speakers and those students who have not had their final two years of schooling in English will need to demonstrate one of the following upon entry:

Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) B2

IELTS 5.5 (including 5.5 for reading and writing)

PTE 5.1 or equivalent

How long do I get to complete this course?

You are allowed 6 months access to the course materials from registration. The Exam needs to be booked and paid for separately.
